Our Ranges

The Saskatoon Wildlife Federation is proud to offer many firearm and archery services to their community! Our staff and volunteers are highly trained, and love to share their knowledge and expertise with people of all ages.
For the safety of all, Saskatoon Wildlife Federation reserves the right to inspect all equipment brought to this facility. Saskatoon Wildlife Federation also reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

Please note that Range Safety Officers enforce all rules, and have the authority to issue fines and suspend ranges access. If you witness any infractions or structure damage that has occurred in the building, please call the office at 306-242-1666.

Outdoor Range

Land Location: SW-24-37-3 W3
Hours: Monday to Saturday – 9AM to 9PM or Dusk Sundays 10AM to 6PM

Outdoor Range Rules

Eye and ear protection are mandatory.

Paper targets only- no humanoid likeness or zombie targets.

All members must display their membership card while using the range.

All members must swipe their card upon entry and exit, even if gate is already open.

Attempts to enter the range by force may result in criminal charges or loss of membership.

One shooter must act as a Range Officer when two or more shooters are on the range.

All shots must be contained within the berm.

Intentional ricochets or un-aimed shots will result in loss of membership.

Members will clean up brass and targets. All brass inside the blue bins is property of the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation.

Indoor Range

Indoor Range Rules

Eye and ear protection are mandatory.

Allowed handguns- 22 to 45 caliber.

.22 Rimfire and pistol caliber rifles are allowed.

Magnum pistol calibers are allowed- please be considerate of noise for fellow shooters.

All members must display their membership card while using the range.

All members must swipe their card upon entry and exit, even if gate is already open.

Guests (max. of two) are under direct supervision of the member, and must possess a valid pass.

Paper targets only- no humanoid likeness or zombie targets.

No shotguns, black powder firearms, or 17 HMRs.

No steel core bullets, or any ammunition that may contain steel.

One shooter must act as a Range Officer when two or more shooters are on the range.

The ventilation system must always be used.

No steel targets are permitted.

When finished, clean up brass and targets.

Indoor Archery Range

Indoor Archery Range Rules

THE SASKATOON WILDLIFE FEDERATION IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES TO ARROWS THAT HAVE STRUCK ANY OF THE INTERIOR STRUCTURE OF THE BUILDING.

THE SASKATOON WILDLIFE FEDERATION IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY NEW OR REUSED ARROWS THAT HAVE STRUCK ANY OF THE INTERIOR STRUCTURE OF THE BUILDING.

Only target and field tips are allowed.

Only carbon, fiber, graphite, and aluminum shafts are allowed.

No homemade, fiberglass, or broadhead arrows are allowed.

Target butts are for archery use only.

Maximum bow poundage is 70 lbs. from the 25-meter line.

Cross Bows are permitted from the 25-meter line.

No “cross-firing”- all shots are to be at the target directly downrange of you.

A bow must not be partially or fully drawn back with a nocked arrow unless on the shooting line, and must always be pointed downrange.

One person must act as a Range Safety Officer and ensure all shooting is managed with the typical range commands: Archers to the Line, Shoot When Ready, You May Retrieve Your Targets, etc.

No shooting into walls, ceiling, or anywhere other than the target butt.

Arrows that strike the steel wall should be very carefully inspected before being re-used.

Outdoor Archery Range

Land Location: SE 24-37-5-W3

Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM or Dusk

Outdoor Archery Range Rules

KEEP IN MIND THAT IT IS ILLEGAL TO KILL, INJURE, OR FIRE UPON WILDLIFE WITHIN THE OUTDOOR ARCHERY RANGE.

Do not draw a bow back without an arrow.

Do not dry fire (releasing the string without a nocked arrow).

No sky drawing (keep arm parallel to ground when drawing bow).

Maximum target distance is 70 meters from the firing line.

Target and field points only. No broadheads.

Family members under 16 must be accompanied by an adult member.

Do not use damaged equipment.

Avoid contact with an archer in the shooting position.

No smoking within the range gate.

No firearms, crossbows, or hunting.

Each shooting position on the firing line has a corresponding target butt directly down-range. Each shooter must shoot only at the target provided or an approved paper target hung on target butt.

When finished, please return target butts to the covered firing line.

Silhouette Range

Land Location: SW-10-38-4 W3

Hours: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM or Dusk

Silhouette Range Rules

Eye and ear protection are mandatory.

All members must display their membership card while using the range.

ONLY handgun, pistol caliber, and rimfire firearms are allowed on the range. Centerfire rifles are not allowed- they will damage the reactive targets.

Do not duplicate or lend your key.

To prevent unauthorized access, lock yourself in the range. Ensure the gate is locked when you leave.

No glass or exploding targets allowed.

Use targets and target-stands provided. To prevent ricochets, objects are not to be placed on the ground and shot at.

The red flag attached to the flagpole must be raised while shooting and lowered when finished.

One shooter must act as a Range Officer when two or more shooters are on the range.

All projectiles must be contained within the backstops.

All firearms must be unloaded and in a safe condition while any person is ahead of the firing line.

Shooting must be from within the red shooting boxes and all shooting positions (sitting, standing, kneeling, prone) are allowed.

There is one firing line and all shooting must cease before anyone moves forward of the firing line.

When farm operations are occurring on adjacent fields, the gate will be locked, and no shooting will be allowed.

Clean up your brass, empty hulls, and garbage.

Grounds Protocols

Consumption of alcohol and/or any impairment altering substances before or while on the range is strictly prohibited.

Smoking on the grounds is prohibited.

No food or drinks on or in front of the firing line.

Verbal abuse of any kind will not be tolerated, and may lead to membership suspension.

Video recording and media events are prohibited on all Saskatoon Wildlife Federation facilities unless written permission is obtained from the Board of Directors.

Violations will not be tolerated and may result in a suspension or loss of membership.

Willful damage will be reported and may result in a suspension or loss of membership.

Firearms Safety Protocols

Applicable at All Ranges
Keep muzzles pointed downrange.

Guns must have actions open when not encased or holstered.

Guns may only be loaded at the firing line, and only when ready to shoot.

If you have a jam- remove the magazine and point the muzzle downrange while removing the jam.

Guns must not be handled behind the firing line when person(s) are downrange.

Handling of firearms is to be in a designated Safe Area along the side walls of the range.

Safe Area must face the side wall.

Rifles must be upright with actions open and placed in gun racks.

Handguns must have actions open and facing side wall.

Chamber flags are recommended and available at the Office.

Archery Safety Protocols

Applicable at All Ranges

Always keep a loaded bow pointed downrange, and know what is beyond your target.

No one is allowed forward of the firing line when the line is “hot”.

Never load an arrow or take an arrow out of your quiver until line is “hot”.

Never use arrows that are too short for your draw length.

Do not use cracked arrows.

Range must be declared safe before anyone goes forward of the red safety line.

All bows must remain on racks and the line declared safe before anyone goes down-range.

Stand to the side of the target when pulling arrows and ensure no one is behind you.

Anyone can call an emergency “CEASE FIRE” for safety emergencies. Follow these Cease Fire Procedures:

Immediately put all arrows in quivers and bows on racks / hangers.

No one is allowed downrange until range is declared safe.

No handling bows and/or arrows during a cease fire.
